Living a happy and healthy life can be an art

To live we have to breath. To live a happy and healthy life we have to breath more. This is the mantra of 'ART OF LIVING' foundation started by Sri Sri Ravishankar. People all over the world swears by this foundation. It has changed the lives of many, it has brought people back to life who had almost given up on living. The evening of 18th of may was an unforgettable night for me when i came face to face with Guruji for the first time. Looking at him and listening to him speak can bring serenity within you. It was an ecstatic moment for me. To see that Guruji has an immense fan following here in UK doesn come as surprise to me. He asked us to greet one another and then he asked us to tell the person sitting next to you 'i dont trust you' which we all did with a huge smile on our face and Guruji says ' have you ever told this to anyone that too smiling'. we never would have said this. Atleast not me to my husband and him to me but over there we both did it with a smile. To live a happy life he says we have to follow general guidelines which are - do not behave like a guest when you go to someones house,be like a host behave like its your house, that will shatter all the barriers and inhabitions within us. Secondly he says do pranayam, which is alternate breathing theraphy. Breathing, he says releases the toxics in our body, cleanses and keeps us free of illness. Thirdly he says 'Seva' to the society, while breathing helps to maintain physical health, seva helps in cleansing the mental health.
He made us do some pranayam, basthrika and meditation, which brought a lot of peace to our mind. Then he went on to answer our questions. This was followed by small performance by the Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan. They sung a soul stirring number of Sri Thiagaraja Bagavadhar. Indeed a beautiful performance by them. This was followed by Bhajan sung by Gayathri whose voice was so heavenly that she became a hit immediatly and her CD sold like hot cake outside the hall. Over all it was a very fruitful night for me and my husband. I would like to quote Guruji here before end this post

The sun rises and celebrates
The sky embraces and celebrates
Winds blow and celebrate
Rivers flow and celebrate
Birds sing and celebrate
Peacocks dance and celebrate
Trees flower and celebrate
We Smile and serve
Meditate and celebrate

It's good that you attended the AOL programme. One of the philosophies that AOL talks about is 'Living in the present moment'. It's a beautiful thought and so true.
Keep writing :)
