When you know what you want to do..
Today was my first day of Instructional Design class. One year back i didnt even know that such a career option existed. Right from my college days i kept doing things thinking that this is what is meant to be. My dad made decisions for me, even career decisions and i just followed it telling myself that dad wants the best for me. Bank job, according to the folks from my caste, is a very secured job and is rated as the best job that would fetch a matrimonial match quick. I never realised it and stepped into it with absolutely no interest. I managed to work for almost 3 years and like my folks said it did fetch me a great match, an IT consultant with a 5 figure salary who does extentive travelling around the world. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever about my married life but my career life was'nt going through a good phase. I had to quit work to relocate to London, i was glad that i could put all the banking work behind but then i was'nt sure what i wanted to do. I was never convinced that i should be good at something. Evcry one of us is blessed with a talent which many of us realise in the early stages of our life and some of them take an entire lifetime and still continue to do something that they detest, for a living and some of them like me who realise late but not too late. I started blogging when i was in London and totally loved it. I wrote about anything and everything call it good or crap i loved every bit of it. My language level may not be as high as the other bloggers but i was still able to invite responses from many. Thats when i thought when i love doing it why dont i make it my career. So when we came back to India i applied for Content Writing jobs. To my dismay i never got responses and when i called to ask the reason, the consultants said i dont have any qualification nor expereince in that line. Thats when i came across Instructional Design. I did a bit of R&D and came to know that there is an institute called Technopoint which is 16 Kms from home but when your determined and know what you want to do in life these things are very trivial is'nt it. With my husbands full support i went and enrolled myself for the course and loved my first session. I have no regrets nor a slight bit of doubt that i made a wrong career decision. When you know what you want to do in life every path becomes clear and the future looks clear and welcoming.

A Tribute to the Women's day

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.
Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.
And, there on television, she said it was "exciting." Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day...like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first. The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!
Maya Angelou said this: "I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow."
"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."
"I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life."
"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as "making a life."
"I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance."
"I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back."

I received the above reading as a forward on my email on the woman's day. At the end it asked me to forward it to 5 phenomenal women. Instead i thought i will put it on my blog. I loved it so much. It made so much sense to me. Iam sure it did to you too. I dint even know who she is till i saw this . Those words are truly the word of wisdom. On this women's day i salute those women who are living to make somebody life worth living. I salute the mother who gives life to a human being and brings him/her into this beautiful world, i salute the wife who sacrifices many of her dreams and desires putting her family's interest in the first place, i salute the sister who prays everyday for her brother happiness,health and prosperity before she prays for herself, i salute the daughter who leaves her parents to go and make a living with her partner, but never gives up on the love she always has for her parents. Women plays many a role in her life, but the bitter truth is many little girls are killed even before they open their eyes to see the world, many daughter-in-laws are burnt before she seeks the love of her husband. Maybe some day it will cease to happen, maybe someday women can walk safe back to her house not worried about the stalker who is following her, maybe someday little baby girls in some parts of our country will have a life to live. And that day will truly be Women's day. A day where women's freedom will be celebrated with great pride, where she will no more be considered the weaker sex.

Can women keep secrets?
My answer to that one will be no. When you say a secret to a women then it no longer qualifies to be called a secret. It has to be passed on to someone else or else 'aiyo en thalai vedichedum pola iruku' will be the reaction. When some one tells women a secret, they have to go to the next most accessable person and blurt it out, 'hey i want to tell you something but makesure you dont tell it to anyone , its between us ok?'. well if you had just told the above to another woman then hmm you know what is the consequence. Have you ever wondered why women cant keep a secret. The answer lies in our very own renowned epic Mahabharatha. Karna was born to Kunti and sun god. But she hides this fact from everyone. On the battlefield of Kurukshetra when Karna is killed by Arjuna, Kunti cries. When Yudhister asks her why she is mourning the death of their enemy she says that Karna is their elder brother. Hurt by this and overpowered by the emotion that the pandavas killed their elder brother, Yudhister curses womenhood saying that women will never be able to keep a secret. Now that explains why. If you want your secrets to be safe you know atleast whom not to tell to do you?

Infedility
Infedility, the word which is synonymous with marital disloyalty,adultery,a breach of trust. This term has been associated with many indian men and women. Being dishonest with your spouse was something which was not a big deal in countries abroad but in india if your married to someone you ought to be honest to him/her whether you like them or not. But this was until yesterday. Today its a differnet scenario altogether. Why has this caught up India out of the blue. well i would say its only now that it has come into light. This was always there in our country but was never out in the open. Iam sure most of us would have watched the evergreen Yash Chopra movie starring Mr.Bachan, Silsila where he is being disloyal to his wife by secretly seeing his ex lover. I remember that movie released in the 80s. Today there is KANK. The only difference between the two is that then there was no sex but now sex is the only motive why partners are being disloyal to each other. The reasons why this is happening according to my personal opinion are - married out of force (forced to leave your lover to marry the person of your parents choice), partner being impotent, partners live lives apart due to career demands, partner is too involved with his/her career that they have no personal space for their spouse. These are just some reasons i can think of. Now what makes them make the bold move - financial independence, my-partner-is-too-busy-to-notice-all-this attitude etc. How can you stop your partner from being unfaithful to you. In a country where traditions,culture,marriage customs etc are just a mere word, infedility is growing by leaps and bounds. This leads to single parenthood,divorces,murder,suicide. With corruption,rape,murder,terrorism we have a new issue added Infedility. Are marriages still made in heaven or have they outsourced it to hell??
