
In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.
Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.
And, there on television, she said it was "exciting." Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day...like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first. The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!
Maya Angelou said this: "I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow."
"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."
"I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life."
"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as "making a life."
"I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance."
"I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back."
"I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision."
"I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one."
"I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back."
"I've learned that I still have a lot to learn."
"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
I received the above reading as a forward on my email on the woman's day. At the end it asked me to forward it to 5 phenomenal women. Instead i thought i will put it on my blog. I loved it so much. It made so much sense to me. Iam sure it did to you too. I dint even know who she is till i saw this . Those words are truly the word of wisdom. On this women's day i salute those women who are living to make somebody life worth living. I salute the mother who gives life to a human being and brings him/her into this beautiful world, i salute the wife who sacrifices many of her dreams and desires putting her family's interest in the first place, i salute the sister who prays everyday for her brother happiness,health and prosperity before she prays for herself, i salute the daughter who leaves her parents to go and make a living with her partner, but never gives up on the love she always has for her parents. Women plays many a role in her life, but the bitter truth is many little girls are killed even before they open their eyes to see the world, many daughter-in-laws are burnt before she seeks the love of her husband. Maybe some day it will cease to happen, maybe someday women can walk safe back to her house not worried about the stalker who is following her, maybe someday little baby girls in some parts of our country will have a life to live. And that day will truly be Women's day. A day where women's freedom will be celebrated with great pride, where she will no more be considered the weaker sex.

Just Happened to browse thru ur blog and really liked ur article - Women's day. The write up made a lot of sense and I am also waiting to see a day when things wud change for the girl child, when they wud really live a free and liberated life, when they are no longer considered as a burden to their family.At this point I wud like to mention- "A Son is A Son till he Gets his Wife, But a Daughter Remains a Daughter throughout ur Life"
